What is the procedure for getting on the Occasional Teachers' List(s)?
You must complete an application package, including all required documents. The application forms are available from this web site or you can drop by Human Resources at 371 Bloor Street West.
Some of the following forms are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin, available free from the Adobe web site, is required to view these files.
A complete application package contains the following documents:
- Occasional Teacher Application Form (PDF)
- current résumé
- negative TB test (PDF) or chest x-ray taken in the last year
- vulnerable sector police check (valid within 6 months)
- Certificate of Qualifications and registration, or Interim Certificate of Qualifications or Letter of Eligibility from the Ontario College of Teachers; (http://www.oct.ca/)
- Local Toronto address and phone number

What is the deadline to get my name added to the Occasional Teachers' Lists?
Completed, recommended applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
How do I know when my application has been processed?
Human Resources will notify you if your application is being considered for the Occasional Teachers' list. UTS maintains a short list of Occasional Teachers on file. If your application is selected you will receive an email inquiring about your availability and requesting you to provide the names of three (3) professional references. You will be required to provide your consent to have Human Resources contact your references. Once your reference check is completed you will be invited in for a short interview.
How much work will I get?
This will vary on the number of subject areas you are qualified to teach as well as the demand we have in these areas through the year.
What is the rate of pay?
The daily rate of pay is Degree: $215.00 Non-Degree: (further info required)
Where can I see EOT (extended occasional teaching) postings?
An EOT refers to an assignment that lasts for 20 consecutive instructional days or more replacing the same teacher. EOT assignments are posted on an as-needed basis and can be viewed on the school’s website at: http://www.utschools.ca They are also posted on Firstclass, which is the internal e-mail system of UTS, in the OT Staffing folder.
